Statistical machine learning is a very dynamic field at the intersection of statistics and computer science. The general goal is to design algorithms that "learn" from data, and which can be applied to a variety of application domains including signal processing, bioinformatics, multimedia data analysis or finance.

The ParisTech Machine Learning initiative gathers a number of world-class experts in mathematics, computer science, and various application domains, in Paris area. Participating teams include groups from ParisTech (Mines ParisTech, Telecom ParisTech, Ecole des Ponts, Ecole Polytechnique, ENSAE, AgroParisTech, ESPCI), Ecole normale superieure, Paris-Sud University, Pierre and Marie Curie University among others.
